- The DeepMind co-founder believes the Turing test is an outdated method of testing AI intelligence.
- In his book, he proposes a new idea to turn $100,000 into $1 million with an AI chatbot.
- “We don’t just care what machines can say, we care about what they can do,” he writes.
Co-founder of Google’s AI lab DeepMind says AI chatbots like ChatGPT will be tested for their ability to turn $100,000 into $1 million in the ‘modern Turing test’ that measures human-like intelligence I think it should.
Mustafa Suleyman, formerly head of Applied AI at DeepMind and now CEO and co-founder of Inflection AI, presents The Coming Wave: Technology, Power, and the Twenty-first Century’s Greatest Dilemma. publish a new book.
In his book, Suleiman denies the traditional Turing test, saying it is “unclear whether this is a meaningful milestone,” Bloomberg reported on Tuesday.
“What the system can do, what it can understand, whether it establishes a complex internal monologue, whether it can engage in abstract time planning that is key to human intelligence. nothing is said,” he added.
The Turing test was introduced by Alan Turing in the 1950s to test whether machines have human-level intelligence. During testing, a human rater determines whether the conversation is a human or a machine. If a machine can pass instead of a human, it has passed the test.
Rather than comparing AI intelligence to humans, Suleiman assigns bots short-term goals and tasks that can be completed with little human input, a process known as “artificial intelligence” (ACI). I’m proposing.
To achieve ACI, an AI bot must pass a new Turing test that requires a $100,000 seed investment to be turned into $1 million, Suleiman said. As part of the test, the bot must research e-commerce business ideas, develop product plans, find manufacturers, and sell the goods.
He expects AI to reach this milestone within the next two years.
According to Bloomberg, “We don’t just care what machines can say, we also care what they can do,” he wrote.
OpenAI’s ChatGPT was released in November 2022 and impressed users with its ability to have casual conversations, generate code, and write essays. ChatGPT fueled the hype in the generative AI industry.
According to a recent McKinsey report, this technology could add up to $4.4 trillion to the global economy annually.
