Actor Ranveer Singh has become the latest target of deepfakes after a video of him appearing to support a political party surfaced online.

“Deepfake se bacho doston (Friends, beware of deepfakes),” Singh wrote on his Instagram Story on Thursday, urging fans to be careful.

The video is based on a genuine interview conducted by Singh during his recent visit to Varanasi and was edited using artificial intelligence to alter the audio. The video showed Singh speaking, but the voice was an AI-generated clone expressing political views that did not necessarily align with the actor's.

The incident follows a similar incident involving actor Aamir Khan, who also reported a deepfake video promoting a political party.

Singh's trip to Varanasi included attending a fashion show and visiting the city's famous temples. He reportedly spoke positively about the city's recent infrastructure improvements and his spiritual experiences there.

On the professional front, Singh will next be seen reprising his role as police officer Simmba in Rohit Shetty's upcoming film 'Singham Again'. The multi-starrer also stars Deepika Padukone, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff and Kareena Kapoor Khan. He will also play the iconic role of Don in Farhan Akhtar's Don 3, which is scheduled to be released next year.
