Nasscom and BCG recently noted in a report that the Indian AI market is experiencing explosive growth and is expected to reach $17 billion by 2027, at a CAGR of 25-35%. Employers say it's important for job seekers to be aware of and master the AI skills that are most in demand.
According to Indeed data, 42% of generative AI job postings in India feature machine learning, with 40% calling for Python skills. Python is valued for its flexibility in AI and machine learning. AI core skills and communication skills are also in demand, appearing in 36% and 23% of job ads respectively. Other in-demand skills are natural language processing (20%), TensorFlow (19%), and data science (17%).
“India needs to focus on skilling to be a leader in the global conversation on AI. Companies should support their employees in further learning to equip them with the necessary skills,” said Sashi Kumar, sales head, Indeed India.
India has seen a surge in interest in AI-related roles in recent years, and a recent survey by Indeed showed that Indian employers are optimistic about AI, with over 85% expecting AI to create new job roles within one to five years.
