Assam Assembly on Thursday filed a complaint with Guwahati police over a video generated by the controversial AI shared by the BJP Assam unit in the official X handle.
DCP (Guwahati East) Mrinal Deka confirmed that the complaint was received at the dist prison police station. He said the issue is under investigation, but revealed that the FIR has not yet been registered.
The complaint continued in a video uploaded late Monday from the “BJP Assam Pradesh” handle. The video with the caption “Assam without BJP” featured a series of AI-generated visuals. These included images of a man wearing a skull hat cutting meat on the roadside labelled “legalized beef.” Assam Parliament President Gaurav Gogoi and senior leader Rahul Gandhi were painted in front of the Pakistani flag. And multiple scenes of skullcap men, as well as women in burqa or hijabs, appear near the Ahom-era Langer Monument, and even across the border fences, at the airport of Guwahati Stadium, near the Ahom-era Langer Monument, the tea garden in the entertainment park, and at the amusement park tea garden.
The video, entitled “Illegal Immigration,” concludes with a message urging viewers to “select carefully to vote.” The clip sparked controversy and urged Bedabrata Bora, the media director of Assam Pradesh Assembly Committee, on Thursday to file a complaint with the police station.
In his complaints, Mullah argued that the video was framed and narrated in a way that intentionally promotes fear and hostility towards Muslims. He said he implied that the non-BJP government would lead to so-called “Islamic rule” and conquest of Hindu and Indigenous communities.
According to him, the video distorted India's constitutional values and the secular policies of democratically elected governments, portraying them as anti-Hindu conspiracies. He further argued that by using inflammatory language and visuals, the content includes depictions of Langa and Guwahati Airport, shadowed by Muslim figures – the content corresponds to a calculated attempt to incite political discrepancies beyond everyday political rhetoric.
The complaint also alleged that the video distorted Gaurav Gogoi's personal beliefs for religion and political interests, which hurt his feelings and the feelings of people in the Hindu parliamentary workers in Assam.
It sought FIR under clauses relating to abolition, and promoted intentional and malicious conduct intended to be a statement that endures hostility, religious sentiment, criminal intimidation, public mischief, and statements that violated claims for national integration. I also requested instructions to remove the video from X.
The post sparked criticism from the BJP's political rivals at the national level. In response, the BJP defended the video, describing it as portrayal of Assam's demographic changes and what it called a threat posed by illegal immigration.
