The Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce will host its next Bites and Insights breakfast session on Thursday, March 19, 2026, featuring Carter Nolan of ALPHA IT.
The session, titled “Beyond the Hype: Why AI Pilots Fail and How to Get It Right,” will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Chamber Business Hub, located at #103-576 England Avenue in Courtenay.
Artificial intelligence is rapidly making its way into workplaces across Canada. More than 90% of organizations are experimenting with AI tools, but research shows that many pilot projects fail to produce measurable results. In many companies, AI is already being used informally by staff without clear policies, oversight, or implementation strategies.
In this hands-on session, Carter Nolan explores what happens when you introduce AI to your organization without a clear framework. Attendees will learn about the risks, hidden costs, and operational frustrations businesses face today as AI tools become pervasive throughout the workplace. This session will also focus on how organizations can move beyond scattered experimentation to a structured approach where AI deployments are secure, aligned with business objectives, and deliver measurable returns on investment.
“Most of us have tried AI before,” said Tracy Clark, executive director of the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce. “But when tools begin to be deployed across an organization without a plan, it can quickly lead to confusion, security concerns, and wasted effort. This session is designed to help companies move from experimentation to a thoughtful approach that creates real value.”
Bites and Insights is a monthly breakfast speaker series hosted by the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce where Chamber members and local experts share practical knowledge and strategies to help your business grow. Each session combines professional learning with networking opportunities with local entrepreneurs, employers, and professionals.
Attendees will enjoy a hot breakfast while connecting with members of the business community and gaining insights to strengthen their organizations.
