Integrated with Cigent’s new Secure SSD+ solution, the Ai microprocessor employs machine learning algorithms to detect ransomware and remote attacks. Combine your SSD with the Data Defense app to enable per-file multi-factor authentication and make entire partitions invisible or read-only.

Cigent’s latest SSD generation is even more secure with the integration of hardware-based machine learning algorithms that prevent ransomware and remote attacks. With the help of an AI microprocessor contained within the storage device itself, Cigent’s Secure SSD+ detects malicious data tampering patterns and allows users to fine-tune detection algorithms to avoid false positives.

Cigent also offers data defense applications that work in tandem with the new Secure SSD+ solution to provide even more security features such as:

  • Multi-factor authentication (MFA) that requires synchronization of PIN code, fingerprint, facial recognition, and authenticator app when a threat is detected
  • Invisible storage partition protected by unrecoverable keys and MFA
  • Entire drive read-only mode
  • File share trusted users list
  • SSD firmware to automatically encrypt files when the Data Defense application is disabled
  • Tracking data theft when an insider boots from a USB stick

If the SSD itself is stolen and paired with another system running another OS, SSD firmware prevents any form of data tampering. SSD currently only supports Windows and should be set as the primary OS drive. Linux support should be available soon. Cigent warns that some files may still be compromised, but ML algorithms are continually being improved to mitigate such chances.

Capacity details haven’t been revealed yet, but Cigent said the drive comes with a double-sided memory chip array, which may not be available to laptop users. Details regarding availability and pricing will be announced in May.
