Air India Chairman N Chandrasekaran on Monday led employees to criticize the AI Flight 171 crash in Ahmedabad last week, urging employees to build a safer and better airline, even if they met with Boeing's top executive and union aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu to discuss the accident and its aftermath.
Chandrasekaran, who described the crash as the “most heartbreaking” crisis of his career, told an employee of the airline's headquarters company that he “have to wait for the results of his investigation before he can reach a conclusion.”
Addressing the criticism faced by airlines, Chandrasekaran admitted that it is difficult for those who are deeply interested in the work and future of airlines. However, he instead encouraged his employees to draw power from their resolve and guide their feelings to build a safer and better airline.
“We need to demonstrate resilience. We need to use this incident as an act of force to build a safer airline,” the press PTI quoted as saying.
Air India chair said the airline is doing its best to help the families of the victims.
Chandrasekaran, chairman of Air India owner Tata Sons, discussed the accident with Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu during the 45-minute meeting, officials said.
“The Tata Group will begin to delete the amount of insurance amount £25 lakhs in a few days,” said a ministry official.

Crore as compensation for each victim's family. The company said they would pay later. £25 larks as provisional compensation for the family.
Two sources said that the head of Boeing commercial planes, Stephanie Pope, also met with Chandrasekaran Air India headquarters in New Delhi on Monday, a Reuters report said. In a statement to Reuters, Boeing declined to comment on Pope's visit and the meeting with Air India, but said it was “focused on supporting the investigation.”
Air India was one of the early customers of Dreamliner Boeing when it rolled its assembly line in 2011. Air India has a total of 33 Dreamliner 787s, which have stepped up safety checks ordered by Indian aviation regulators.
The Pope was accompanied by Boeing's Indian President Salil Gupte, one source said in the report. According to the US plane manufacturer's website, the Pope oversees the design, production and delivery of advanced jet liners to Boeing customers around the world.
Dreamliner has GE Engine and GE Aerospace CEO Russell Stokes and its South Asia chief Vikramrai met Chandra Sekaran on Monday.
