ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif announced major reforms on Wednesday as the federal cabinet approved the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy 2025 at a high-level conference in Islamabad.

The Cabinet unanimously approved an AI policy aimed at developing a full-scale AI ecosystem across Pakistan, including ambitious targets, including training one million AI experts by 2030 and producing 1,000 indigenous AI products within five years.

It also includes launching 50,000 civic projects, offering 3,000 scholarships per year and promoting 1,000 research projects.

“Our youth is Pakistan's biggest asset. Providing AI education, skills and equal opportunities is our number one priority,” Prime Minister Shebaz said.

The policy promises comprehensive education and funding for people with different capabilities than women, ensures national cybersecurity and aligns local standards with global AI regulations.

The designated AI council, supported by the Master Plan and Action Matrix, oversees the implementation. The government is also planning to create AI innovation and venture funds to encourage private sector engagement.

Prime Minister Shebaz praised the Ministry and related departments for their timely contributions. “AI not only modernizes our economy, but also increases productivity across agriculture, public services and governance,” he said.
