The Business AI Alliance, led by 4 Mosts, began this week at the council reception.
The New Alliance brings together sector-based organisations committed to shaping national AI policies with a focus on growth and influence, offering them a goal of a clear and positive narrative about the economic potential of UK AI in the face of large-scale technological advantages.
Early members included major banks, technology companies and universities, including founding organizations such as 4 MOMST, University of Glasgow, Inference Group, Grade 51, CreateFuture, IOA Foundation, INTRIQ, and Automated Analytics.
Using the SME success stories on AI adoption as a foundation, Alliance members will provide public policy voices and support a broader range of SMEs in making the most of this new technology.
The group's initial focus is to shape a reliable strategic narrative of the economic potential of AI, ensuring that more than 3,000 AI-focused small businesses in the UK are properly represented in government and industry discussions. While still in its early stages, the alliance is driven by a desire, hope and integrity to believe in the possibilities of AI, but with a clear understanding of the challenges facing SMEs today, and to achieve change immediately.

“AI defines the next chapter in the UK economy, but there are too many people in the room who actually design, build and deliver when the strategy is set,” says Colin Carmichael, four client partner of Business AI Alliance.
“While SMEs in the UK are experts, their perspective is often hidden by the voices of larger companies. In addition to this, almost 90% of AI companies expect to see an increase in revenue over the next 12 months, but more than half of the investments are hindering them.
