JAKARTA (ANTARA) – The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), through the Policy Partnership for Science, Technology and Innovation (APEC PPSTI), together with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum, will hold a workshop on the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in the treatment of COVID. Pinandit, who served as the focal point person for APEC PPSTI Indonesia, said the conference could expand networks in the development of artificial intelligence, both in the medical field and in other fields.

The workshop discussed current research and innovation achievements, both from the scientific and technical aspects of their successful development and their implementation.

Future research is also discussed.

“Continued discussions and communication with researchers at home and abroad will provide opportunities to accelerate the achievement of expected research goals,” he affirmed.

“This could also expand the field of application of artificial intelligence itself, of course, both downstream for handling health mitigation and upstream for the development of drugs, vaccines and other treatments. will be developed,” he said.

He said the workshop will strengthen the research and innovation ecosystem nationwide, increase the capacity of national researchers in the field of artificial intelligence, and conduct a range of research related to the treatment and mitigation of other diseases. Meanwhile, the director of BRIN Budi Prawara’s Research Institute for Electronic and Information Sciences said participants from 21 APEC member countries will participate in the activity.

BRIN, the organizer, facilitated the workshop from preparation to implementation by selecting topics through surveys of APEC member countries, determining appropriate speakers, and conducting the workshop.

BRIN will also showcase several forms of implementation of artificial intelligence technology to mitigate COVID-19.

“Through the workshops, APEC members can share policies on the impact of COVID-19 on their economic recovery and exchange information and experiences on artificial intelligence-based products or technologies that can contribute to COVID-19 mitigation,” Prawala said. said.

“Besides that, this will also foster cross-forum collaboration and create policy advocacy for the use of pioneering and innovative products,” he added.

Meanwhile, Anto Satriyo Nugroho, director of the National Research and Innovation Agency’s Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, said extensive research related to artificial intelligence is being conducted in Indonesia.

These studies range from the COVID-19 Research and Innovation Task Force (TFRIC), a study conducted by Gadjah Mada University on diagnosing COVID-19 from radiographic images, to monitoring global spread.
