Black Forest Labs launches FLUX 3 multimodal AI model with video generation and robotics capabilities

AI Video & Visuals

Black Forest Labs has released FLUX 3, a multimodal AI model that can generate 20-second video clips with synchronized audio, process images, and predict robot behavior.

This model launches in early access on July 23rd and represents BFL’s first truly integrated foundational model. FLUX 3 works across image, video, audio, and physical motion prediction within a single architecture.

What FLUX 3 actually does

Headline features text-to-video generation that produces clips up to 20 seconds long with native audio synchronized with the visuals. This means that dialogue, sound effects, and ambient noise all match what’s happening on screen, rather than requiring separate audio generation or manual stitching.

BFL calls the underlying technology a “self-flow” approach. This makes it possible to coordinate, understand, and generate multimodal data within one integrated system.

Initial evaluation suggests that this model performs well compared to other models. Initial benchmarks showed that 77% of comparisons favored the FLUX 3 over competitive models such as the Runway Gen-4.5.

A phased rollout plan promises to expand access to the entire video/audio, image, and action features over time, with an open weight developer version on the roadmap.

From pixels to production line

BFL is working with Mimic Robotics to develop FLUX-mimic, a variant of the model already on Audi’s production lines. The system handles complex tasks such as dexterous manipulation of materials, such as insertion and handling of soft materials, which are notoriously difficult for traditional robotic systems.

BFL’s trajectory and what it means for investors

FLUX 3 follows a rapid pace of development. FLUX 1 arrived in August 2024, FLUX 2 arrived in November 2025, and FLUX 3 arrived about eight months later.

Financial backing matches ambition. BFL’s Series B funding round raised $300 million, valuing the company at $3.25 billion.

There is one detail worth noting. BFL does not associate any cryptographic tokens or digital assets with the FLUX product line. Although the name resembles a certain crypto project, this is an AI company funded purely through traditional venture capital.
