Artificial intelligence will transform the way people work across different roles.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is introducing two AWS Certifications focused on artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and generative AI to help upskill Africans and fill in-demand cloud jobs.
Available worldwide, certifications are offered alongside free or low-cost training programs to help you prepare for the certification exam.
Earning an industry-recognized credential can give professionals looking to build a career in AI a competitive edge for in-demand jobs in the fast-growing cloud technology sector.
The program is in line with Amazon's “AI Ready” initiative, which aims to provide free AI skills training to 2 million people around the world by 2025 through its digital learning centers.
AWS offers over 100 AI, ML, and generative AI courses and learning resources in AWS Skill Builder and AWS Educate to prepare participants for the jobs of the future.
“The certificate program is aimed at students just beginning to explore a career in AI, business professionals with a solid understanding of AI concepts, and ML specialists who operationalize AI models,” AWS said in a statement.
“Organizations are realizing that leveraging AI and generative AI requires a broader skill set beyond programming. This includes professionals in marketing, sales, project and product management, HR, finance, accounting, and more. IT professionals with limited exposure to AI/ML and generative AI can make informed decisions while leveraging their core skills when building or managing AI solutions.”
AWS Certified AI Practitioner is a foundation-level certification designed to demonstrate understanding of AI and generative AI concepts for people with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
The AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer – Associate is intended for individuals with one or more years of experience building, deploying, and maintaining AI and ML solutions on AWS.
The company believes AI will change the way people work across a range of roles, and according to a survey commissioned by AWS, businesses are willing to pay higher salaries for professionals with AI skills, including up to 47% higher salaries for IT workers, 43% higher for sales and marketing workers, and 42% higher for finance workers.
Training resources for AWS Certified AI Practitioners consist of eight free courses, including Fundamentals of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Exploring Artificial Intelligence Use Cases and Applications, and Prompt Engineering Fundamentals.
Registered attendees will learn real-world use cases for AI, ML, and generative AI, how to choose a foundational model, and concepts and techniques related to creating effective prompts.
You can register for the beta exams for AWS Certified AI Practitioner and AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer – Associate starting August 13. To learn more about the new certifications and enroll in an exam prep plan, click here.
