Application Highlights: NEXCOM NISE3000 C30 EDGE AI Computing Platform

Edge AI innovation is more important than ever for the embedded computing industry. Tools, platforms, and yes, applications enabled by artificial intelligence are approaching the edge and making the devices that work there smarter.

To enable all the processing, storage and communications required by AI at the edge, you need a next-generation computing platform powerful enough to support machine vision, real-time data processing, image analysis, intelligent surveillance, and other implementations that require AI. This new kind of embedded edge computer requires juice to power applications, but fanless design and extended operating temperatures are paramount as they start as they must be resilient to changes in environmental conditions for industrial, robust, and remote deployments.

Application Use Cases

Edge is a broad term encompassing non-prem deployments, but often refers to remote areas where there is little opportunity to be dealt with by humans, or risky situations that are not optimally interfering with potential harm.

Let's take a look at this industrial edge deployment, a robot assembly, computer vision, automated warehouses, and security elements, all AI-driven smart manufacturing plants that are processed through edge processors that cannot constantly connect to the cloud or server/data center.

This kind of smart manufacturing AI implementation requires a large amount of calculation and scalability in addition to reliability and resilience. In practice, it is ideal to use a unified processing architecture that links the GPU, NPU, and CPU to ensure that all necessary processing and execution is possible, and ensure that all systems are redundant to avoid possible downtime or system failures. For example, Intel's Unified Architecture Links GPUs, NPUs, and VPUs, and Intel Core Ultra 200 Series 5/7/9 Socket-Type CPUs provide the perfect muscle type for this type of work.

Nexcom Nise3000 C30 Edge AI Computing Platform

NEXCOM's NISE3000 C30 next-generation edge AI computing platform is designed to meet the use cases for this type of application, as well as other edge cases that require AI and real-time processing. The series is a powerful, fanless edge computing system tailored to the demands of industrial automation and AI-driven applications, says Nexcom.

Featuring the latest Intel Core Ultra 200 series processors, it integrates CPUs, GPUs and NPUs into an integrated architecture, enabling precisely the sophisticated capabilities needed for modern industrial and edge implementations. These include machine vision, real-time data processing, image analysis, and intelligent monitoring.

The NISE3000 C30 supports high-speed DDR5 6400 CSO-DIMM memory up to 96GB, M.2, SSD, and HDD storage options, and optional connections over 5G/4G LTE or optional Wi-Fi connections.

Recognizing the need for toughness in these deployments, Nexcom has designed a new series for reliability, featuring 24V DC inputs and fanless cooling, and supports extended operating temperatures from -20°C to 60°C (without add-on cards). The NISE3000 C30 has two POE ports, IEEE 802.3AF (30W in total), allowing the system to power it via a standard Ethernet cable, directly powering POE-enabled IP cameras. All of this, IEEE 802.3AF Compliance (15W/port) has built-in protection, safe, reliable, resilient in the most demanding environments, perfect for machine vision, monitoring, or security applications at the edge.
