Apple co-founder Wozniak issues new warnings about the dangers of AI

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has repeatedly warned of the potential dangers posed by the massive growth of artificial intelligence (AI) in recent years, where systems such as the chatbot ChatGPT have become part of our daily lives. I’m here.

In an interview with the BBC, he warned that AI could make fraud and misinformation harder to spot, and said he feared the technology would be abused by “bad guys”.

His comments prompted him and other tech experts, including Twitter owner Elon Musk, to urge scientists to pause AI development for at least six months to make sure it doesn’t pose a danger to humanity. It was served just a few weeks after prompting.

In a recent interview with the BBC, he talked about the benefits of AI, but said its content should be clearly labeled and that the field needs regulation.

He told technology editor Zoe Kleinman:

He doesn’t think AI will replace humans because it lacks emotion, but programs like ChatGPT can create text that “sounds very intelligent”, so in his view, villains make it even more convincing.

And he believes that the responsibility for anything published by AI lies with the person who publishes it.

A computing pioneer himself, he said, “We can’t stop technology, but we can give people a better education to spot fraud and malicious attempts to steal their identity.” I believe that

In a March joint letter calling for putting the brakes on AI development, he said: Even the creator can understand, predict, or control with certainty.

“Modern AI systems are now increasingly capable of competing with humans in common tasks, and we have to ask ourselves: Are machines flooding our information channels with propaganda and lies? Shouldn’t I let you?”

“A strong AI system should only be developed after we are confident that its effectiveness will be positive and the risks manageable.”

The technology chief didn’t want an AI system more powerful than the new chatbot GPT-4, and asked researchers to focus on making sure the technology was accurate, secure, and transparent.

US tech company OpenAI released the latest version of its AI chatbot ChatGPT earlier this year.

ChatGPT launched late last year and has become an online sensation by allowing users to not only have natural conversations, but also create speeches, songs and essays.

Bots can respond to questions in a human-like way and understand the context of follow-up queries just like a human conversation. You can even admit your mistakes and deny inappropriate requests.

According to OpenAI, GPT-4 has “more advanced reasoning skills” than ChatGPT, but like its predecessor, GPT-4 is still not entirely reliable, and AI can’t invent facts or make inferences. It can cause “hallucinations”, a phenomenon that causes errors.

The letter states that humanity will be able to enjoy an “AI Summer” that will allow them to reap the benefits of the system, but only after safety protocols are established.

The letter said, “Mankind can enjoy a prosperous future with AI. Now that we have successfully created a powerful AI system, we can enjoy ‘AI Summer’. There, we can earn rewards and design these systems to clearly benefit everyone and give them the opportunity to adapt to society.

“Society is pausing the use of other technologies that could have a devastating impact on society.

“We can do it here. Let’s enjoy the long AI summer instead of rushing into fall carelessly.
