<span>STORY: Anthropic announced Friday that it would “abruptly disable” its cutting-edge AI model for all users after the U.S. ordered it to cut off access to foreigners, citing national security concerns.</span><span>The company said in a statement that it had received an export control order suspending access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 to all foreign nationals.</span><span>The AI ​​company said the order does not provide specific details of national security concerns.</span><span>He added that his understanding is that the government believes there is a way to circumvent, or “jailbreak,” the safeguards that prevent Fable 5 from being used to identify software vulnerabilities.</span><span>Antropic, which is seeking an IPO, said the government presented only “oral evidence of limited and non-universal jailbreak potential,” which does not justify recalling a model used by hundreds of millions of people.</span><span>The company said it believes there was a “misunderstanding” and is working to restore access as soon as possible.</span><span>Kirsten Davis, the Pentagon’s chief information officer, said in a post on X that the Pentagon supports prioritizing national security.</span><span>He added, “Some things are simply more important than revenue cycles, clickbait, and pre-IPO valuations.”</span>
