introduction
Just 24 hours after the Ghanaian footballer, Thomas Party was officially charged with rape by British metropolitan police on July 4, 2025, with video surfaced. x about alleged initial response to his accusations.
Videos shared by An x User Bekar Sebatindila captioned by name: “This is a statement from Thomas Partey after being accused of rape,” which was subsequently deleted but has been re-shared by other users (here, here, here).
“I didn't do that. They always want to accuse me of rape, but that's what happens when you're black and refuse to renew your contract with a club like Arsenal.”
The 32-year-old continues to talk about preferring to go to prison over staying at Arsenal under his current manager, Mikel Arteta.
The video also said Partey reduced racism in Europe and urged fans to fight racism in the comments section, adding that despite knowing who is behind the accusations, the person is too big for him to fight alone. He added that if fellow footballers Mendy and Greenwood survived the rape charges, he would do so too.
Visual analysis
Ghana Fact analyzed the video looking for possible artificial intelligence (AI) tips. We concluded that the video is a deepfake for two reasons:
- Partey's voice and tone appear manipulated given the player's slurry and slangy voice nature.
- There are unnatural, jerky movements in the head, and some words and sentences are incomplete.
Has Partey made a personal statement?
Additionally, Ghana Fact searched all known social media handles of Thomas Parte, but no official statements were found by the player regarding ongoing legal issues. No local or international trustworthy news outlets also reported any direct responses by Partey.
The only publicly known response associated with Partey was a statement from his lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire.
“He has worked fully with the police and CPS throughout his three years of investigation. Thomas Party has denied all charges against him. He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.”
Video Origin: Tiktok User
Ghana Fact traced the source of the virus video to a Tiktok user whose username @sserona12 was embossed into the video. I read to my account bio: “The video here is strictly for entertainment.”

Within three days, the video has earned 5.4 million views, making it the most viewed video on your account. Ghana Fact also observed the label on a video that read “creators labeled as AI generated.”
According to the check, labels are part of Tiktok's rules that require users to properly label AI content before posting.
Understanding Tiktok's creator labels
Creator Label: Creators apply this label to indicate that the content has been fully generated or significantly edited by AI. The label reads as “creator labeled as AI generated.”

Tiktok reserves the right to label content detected so that AI is generated. Social media platforms also provide detailed information on how people label posts and how users report unlabeled content.
“Please note that labeling content misleadingly with this label is a violation of our Terms of Use and could lead to the removal of content,” Tiktok added.
Conclusion
Videos of the part that allegedly responded to recent rape fees have been generated by AI. Tiktok was clearly labeling it, but when they found their way to X, users ended up sharing it without a disclaimer, exposing users to the possibility of misinformation.
