In November, Amazon announced it would launch AI video compilations for TV shows.
In theory, this could be helpful. Now, fans often have to wait years between seasons of a show, and are often in desperate need of a plot summary before binge-watching a new season. But viewers actually found some mistakes in the season 1 recap video. fall out A TV series that is currently being prepared for season 2.
GamesRadar noted that the show's AI video summaries incorrectly identified the duration of the show's flashbacks, telling viewers that they were occurring. 120 years ago than actually happens in the show's chronology. What's more, the recap mischaracterizes a key plot point at the end of season 1, completely undermining the protagonist's main motivation.
It's like, “You have a job to do!” Amazon's AI technology status.
When the feature was announced in February, an Amazon blog post hailed the AI-powered summaries as “groundbreaking.” However, anyone familiar with the limitations of large-scale language models knows that they are prone to illusions and inaccuracies.

“Video Recaps is a breakthrough application of generative AI for streaming,” said Gerard Medioni, vice president of technology at Prime Video, in a November press release. “This first-of-its-kind feature demonstrates Prime Video's continued commitment to innovation and making the viewing experience more accessible and enjoyable for our customers.”
And according to Amazon, AI summaries are created as follows:
Creating a summary for each video is a multi-step process. With the help of generative AI, the video summarization feature analyzes the season's key plot points and character arcs to deeply understand the most important moments that will resonate with viewers going into the next season.
AI then finds the most engaging video clips and combines them with audio effects, dialogue snippets, and music. All of this is stitched together with comprehensive AI-generated voiceover narration to provide a theatrical-quality visual summary.
Unfortunately, fact-checking and human review doesn't seem to be one of the steps.
After gaming journalists started writing about error-filled AI videos featuring AI narration and clips from the show, Amazon appears to have removed the feature from fall out Other Prime Video series, as reported by The Verge.
For AI critics in the gaming media, this was the perfect opportunity to make a pun about the “fallout” from another failed AI tool. As Mashable reported, many creative professionals are highly hostile to any form of generative AI.
However, Amazon has given no indication that this feature will be completely retired, and it may return in the future. After all, Amazon, like millions of AI users, is fully committed to generative AI.
In the meantime, you can always rely on human-generated season summaries from publications like Mashable, for example.
