San Francisco: According to media reports, Amazon has quietly acquired audio content discovery engine Snackable AI to boost its podcast capabilities.
The Snackable AI team joined Amazon Music to work on an existing podcast project.
Snackable founder and CEO Mari Joller now works at Amazon as an artificial intelligence and machine learning product lead, reports The New York Post.
Founded in 2018, Snackable AI specializes in using AI to easily add structure and metadata to your video and audio with AI-generated chapters, highlights, and more. .
Snackable is working on a podcast feature offered through Amazon Music.
Prior to its acquisition by Amazon, Snackable had raised a total of $3.1 million from investors.
The deal comes at a time when Amazon and other big tech companies are pushing to implement AI-driven features in their products during the ChatGPT era.
Inspired by ChatGPT’s success, Amazon is now building a Large Language Model (LLM) to power Alexa. It’s much bigger, much more “generalized,” and is rapidly accelerating its vision of providing the world’s best personal assistant.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy says ChatGPT is a great example of an application being built.
“Some of these applications we build ourselves. For example, one of the most compelling applications built with generative AI has to do with helping developers become more effective at coding. I think
“I think there’s an important business model underneath that,” he added.
“We’ve been investing in building our own large-scale language models for several years, and it’s a very big investment across the company,” says Jassy.
