The Delhi High Court recently banned the misuse of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's name, photographs and portraits. A few days after the interim injunction, the actress and her husband Abhishek Bachchan took legal action against YouTube and Google over AI-generated deepfake videos. They reportedly demand $450,000 (about Rs 4 trillion) in damages.

According to the report Reutersthe celebrity couple has filed a lawsuit against the video streaming platform and its parent company over “bad” and “sexually explicit” AI-generated content. They urged YouTube to permanently ban material that misuses names, voices or images. “Such content is used to train AI models, and therefore could potentially slash instances of use of a compromise. It is first uploaded to YouTube, viewed by the public, and then abused for AI training,” they said in a petition filed on September 6th.

Examples cited include an manipulation video of Abhishek suddenly kissing the actress, or an AI clip showing her along with her rumoured ex-boyfriend Salman Khan. They also mentioned a channel called Ai Bollywood ISHQ. It has over 259 videos and over 16.5 million views. One clip on the handle shows Aish and Salman dipping in the pool. It reportedly has 4.1 million views.

The lawsuit also targets sellers without permission using images with fake products such as posters, mugs and autographed photos.

The Delhi High Court has asked Google's lawyers to submit a written reply. The next hearing in the case is set for January 15th, 2026.
