A special event hosted by Swansea University brought together students and researchers to discuss AI and its wide range of applications.
UKRI annual conference Doctoral Training Center for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Advanced Computing (AIMLAC) was held at the University’s Bay Campus in collaboration with the Zienkiewicz Institute for Modeling, Data and AI.
More than 50 attendees participated in a variety of presentation programs on AI and machine learning applications in particle physics, astronomy, health and engineering, while also focusing on advances in computer science.
Many of the speakers were postdoctoral researchers related to AIMLAC and enjoyed special sessions devoted to issues such as AI governance.

The conference ended with a session led by the university’s Senior Entrepreneurship Officer. Kelly Jordan About entrepreneurship. This is a subject that is especially relevant to students nearing graduation.
Professor Gerd Arts, the director of AIMLAC said: “Our Annual Meeting is a great opportunity to intersperse research discussions with special sessions dedicated to current issues relevant to our alumni and the wider community, especially as AI development continues to advance rapidly.
