The use of artificial intelligence in classrooms is increasing to an unprecedented level. Recent research has revealed that the majority of students are currently using AI tools.
According to a global survey conducted by the Digital Education Council, 86% of undergraduate students report using AI in some way while completing their coursework.
Supporting this trend, a survey of over 1,000 students conducted by Savanta revealed that the percentage of students using the Generative AI tool has risen from 53% last year to 88% this year.
This rapid growth represents a major change as AI is now widely regarded as an important resource for students.
Among those using AI, the most frequent applications explain difficult concepts and quickly summarise academic articles.
The study states that the main reason students rely on AI is to save time. Improving the quality of their work was the second most common reason.
As AI continues to grow in both its capabilities and accessibility, its classroom presence is expected to grow even more. This will change the way both students and educators adapt to the fast pace of technological advancements.
