The summit takes place against the backdrop of India’s expanding digital public infrastructure and the government’s push to democratize technology. The IndiaAI Mission has already allocated Rs 10,372 crore to strengthen the AI ecosystem, with over 38,000 GPUs in common computing facilities and 12 unique foundation models under development, the country is positioning itself as both a builder and a bridge-builder in the AI era.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the delegations from around the world and said he was “extremely proud” to have leaders from around the world coming to India for the summit. For governments, this event is more than just diplomatic pageantry, it is a platform to advance the guiding pillars of ‘people, planet, progress’ and ensure that AI development remains human-centred, fair and responsible.
World leaders, including Emmanuel Macron, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Petteri Orupo, Peter Pellegrini and Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, are scheduled to attend, along with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and ministerial delegations from more than 45 countries. The U.S. delegation, led by senior officials and industry leaders, is pushing for deeper cooperation across AI infrastructure, quantum computing, and trusted technologies.
Beyond high-level diplomacy, the summit focuses on India’s domestic capabilities. India AI Impact Expo will showcase real-world deployments at scale, from multilingual inference engines and voice-first tools to AI-driven agriculture and healthcare applications. With over 800 million internet users and a burgeoning startup ecosystem, India is proving that scale, innovation and inclusion can move forward together.
