AI remixes short videos in YouTube test

AI Video & Visuals

The ability to build on short-form videos is an important part of the experience for many people, and YouTube Shorts is currently testing an AI-powered version with two features in development.

YouTube is giving users the ability to “reimagine” their videos using AI in its latest test with a “small group of creators.” Specifically, this new feature will allow YouTube users to “transform a single frame” from someone’s short video and turn it into “an entirely new video” using custom or suggested prompts.

Another option also leverages AI, allowing users to “insert items into the scene” from short videos using prompts.

We’re starting to test new features in the Short Remix Menu to help creators bring their ideas to life. In the target short video[リミックス]Tap to join a small group of creators (English only)[オブジェクトを追加]or[再想像]Options will be displayed.

  • Add the object: Insert items from the original short into your scene (up to 8 seconds) using suggested or custom prompts.
  • Please reconsider: Convert a single frame of your original short video into an entirely new video via suggested or custom prompts. Optionally, you can upload up to two reference photos.

Additionally, all Shorts created with these AI tools will still be linked to the original Short, and creators can opt out of their Shorts being subject to these recreations, but note that traditional remixes will no longer be possible as well.
