Enough is enough for generative AI chatbots redditFierce debates, wide-ranging conversations, and sarcastic sarcasm? A new report claims bots are now more likely to quote you. YouTubeA library of in-depth long-form videos.
The AI’s preference for YouTube-based content over Reddit threads is a notable departure from the previous norm. Over the past year, Reddit has established itself as the most common host of sources cited by bots like ChatGPT. Suddenly, Reddit went red. Its user base soared, and other platforms began testing products that mimic one of Reddit’s signature features: threaded comments.
Some of these comments were frequently cited by the AI chatbot; adweekthe landscape is changing. Large-scale language models (LLMs) are becoming increasingly adept at parsing videos, and YouTube has the most extensive library of thoroughly researched and intuitively structured long-form instructional videos. Some would argue that the latest shift in direction has already begun. Apps known for short-form videos, such as TikTok and Instagram, also encourage creators to stick around longer.
