Artificial intelligence is redesigning how networks are built, managed and protected. AI networking is now more than just a utility and has instead emerged as a key enabler of innovation. As businesses move forward, the challenge is not simply to keep up with AI demands, but to ensure that networks are actively accelerating recruitment and business value.
According to Bob Laliberte, principal analyst at TheCube Research, this trend suggests that networking is the foundation of AI success, and that modernizing companies across all domains are in the best position to unlock new opportunities.
“AI is basically rebuilding enterprise networks from end to end,” he said. “In the backend, high-performance interconnections are essential for scaling the GPU clusters used for training and inference. In the frontend, Wi-Fi, private 5G, and edge networks are important for collecting and supplying data that collects and delivers AI models. Generic, predictive, and agent AI is transforming how the network is managed.”
These dynamics will take to center stage on September 18th, on “The Networking for AI Summit” during an exclusive broadcast from TheCube, Siliconangle Media's LiveStreaming Studio. At the event, industry leaders such as Cisco Systems Inc., Juniper Networks of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Meter Inc., and Extreme Networks Inc. will provide consulting for Kerravala, providing IT leaders and practical guidance on building Ai-Readed Networkks, along with insights from Laliberte and leading analyst Zeus Kerravala. Why is AI networking at the heart of innovation?
Companies know that keeping their networks static won't cut it in the AI era. In fact, Cisco internal research shows that 97% of IT networking executives believe they need to upgrade their infrastructure and successfully deploy AI. Cisco is available for innovations including new data center tools and pre-configured AI hardware, but its biggest push focuses on agent AI and preparing AI networking for improved security and observability. Features such as Cisco AI Canvas, its domain-specific AI assistant, and its extended firewall and zero trust options are designed to make the network proactive so that AI systems act autonomously.
According to Laliberte, that urgency underlines the interests of AI networking.
“Companies that can't modernize their backend, frontend and WAN networks run the risk of falling behind their large-scale AI peers,” Laliberte said. “For customers, it can miss a slower innovation cycle and opportunity. For technology partners, it's an opportunity to step up as trusted advisors and help organizations build an agile, AI-enabled network that defines market leaders in the coming years.”
HPE Recent Acquisitions Juniper Networks Inc. emphasizes that vendors are seriously investing in building AI-Native Networking Foundations. This move expands HPE's portfolio with a secure, end-to-end stack designed to support AI modernization. At the same time, HPE introduced AI-powered co-pilots for this purpose. Aruba Networking edgeconnect platformI was aiming for it Enhanced cybersecurity Enables more aggressive agent AI networking operations. Others in the market It is also experimenting with AI-driven platforms, reflecting the wider momentum across the industry.
“Companies should see AI networking as an opportunity to modernize and upgrade highly distributed network environments,” Laliberte said. “We hope that in the near future, we will increase our attention to WAN traffic and AI-driven operations that allow for a reactive-to-proactive transition to WAN traffic, as well as the continued adoption of Ethernet in AI data centers, private 5G and Wi-Fi 7 to facilitate front-end data collection.
