Lawyers can appear through video conferencing from February 16 to February 20 if they are unable to attend the Supreme Court in person due to expected traffic congestion during the upcoming AI Impact Summit at the Bharat Mandapam, which is very close to the Supreme Court.
“In view of the representations received from the Supreme Court Bar Association, and as traffic congestion is expected around the precincts of the Supreme Court of India during the AI Impact Summit scheduled to be held from February 16, 2026 to February 20, 2026 at the Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, advocates hereby inform you that if they find it difficult to appear in court, they may appear in court through video conferencing during the above period.” Court in Person.
A circular issued by the Supreme Court states, “To facilitate appearance through video conferencing, the relevant video conferencing link shall be shared with the defense counsel on record.”
The Supreme Court clarified that appearing by video conferencing is optional and that all courtrooms will function in hybrid mode from February 16 to February 20, 2026.
The five-day event will be held at the Bharat Mandapam and is expected to be attended by thousands of delegates from over 30 countries. More than 10,000 police personnel will be deployed in the national capital to ensure strong security during the India AI Impact Summit from February 16 to 20.
