Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Cinemarsive Labs, a UK-based machine learning and computer vision company, as the PlayStation business continues to invest in advanced visual computing and immersive gameplay experiences.

The acquisition brings Cinemarsive Labs’ computer vision and machine learning expertise to Sony’s gaming division, where the company is focused on pushing the boundaries of graphical fidelity and real-time rendering. Founded in 2022, Cinemarsive Labs has developed specialized capabilities to transform visual data into more immersive formats, in line with Sony’s broader efforts to improve the realism of gameplay.

Following this transaction, the Cinemarsive Labs team will join Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Visual Computing Group and contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge visual computing in games. This integration is expected to support efforts across machine learning-driven rendering, gameplay visuals, and next-generation graphics performance.

Sony says the addition of Cinemarsive Labs will accelerate its ability to apply machine learning technology, improve rendering efficiency and take players to new levels of visual fidelity. The move underscores the company’s continued focus on leveraging AI to enhance both development workflows and end-user gaming experiences.
