DP Technology, a developer of a suite of AI tools used by researchers for tasks ranging from drug design to battery development, has raised more than 800 million yuan (US$114 million) in Series C funding to expand research and development (R&D) and hire talent.
The Beijing-based AI-for-Science (AI4S) startup announced on Wednesday that the round received support from state-owned and venture investors including Fortune Venture Capital, Beijing Jingguozui Equity Investment Fund, Beijing Artificial Intelligence Industry Investment Fund, Beijing Pharmaceutical and Health Industry Investment Fund, Lenovo Capital and Incubator Group, and Oryza Hua.
The company said the funds will be used primarily to hire talent and expand research and development.
Founded in 2018 by two Peking University graduates, DP Technology focuses on developing AI4S tools for basic research, life sciences, and materials science. This field uses artificial intelligence and advanced computing to accelerate scientific discoveries, from molecular simulations to laboratory automation.
DP Technology's product portfolio spans multiple stages of the research process.
Its products include Particle Universe, an AI model system for scientific simulations. Bohrium, a cloud-based research platform and asset hub. Uni-Lab is a laboratory operating system.
The company also developed Hermite, a computer-aided drug design platform. RiDYMO is a research and development platform targeting previously “undruggable” biological targets. Piloteye, a battery design platform. Lebesgue Intelligent Computing, Computing Traffic Controller. SciMaster is a general purpose scientific AI agent that integrates with other products.
