Vienna: Monday's Privacy Campaign Group filed a complaint with Lithuanian authorities against Whitebridge AI, accusing them of illegally collecting and selling personal data via “reputation reports” generated by artificial intelligence.
Noyb, a well-known Vienna-based organization, said the name, “None of your business,” will sell the service as an AI tool “find everything online” and provide “reputation report” to “people who are willing to pay.”
These reports “compile a massive amount of scrapped personal information about unsuspecting people,” including “not true” and “AI-generated” data, Noyb said.
Information generated by the AI includes data on “skeptical traits of personality,” background checks, and “political or religious content.”
“The business model appears to be primarily based on scary users who want to see their own data that had previously been illegally compiled,” Noyb said in a statement.
“The amount of personal data Whitebridge AI processes is indeed creepy,” said Neube's lawyer Aitana Pallas.
“This is exacerbated by the fact that Whitebridge AI completely ignores data subjects when it attempts to exercise its rights.
Noyb said two claimants had requested access to data about themselves.
Their requests, including revisions to “false data,” were ignored or rejected by a Lithuania-based company.
The complaint cites several violations of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) regarding the right to process and access and revise data.
All European citizens have the right to access personal data for free.
The NGO has asked the Lithuanian Data Protection Agency to comply with access requests, halt illegal processing of data and force White Bridge to impose a fine.
NOYB has launched several legal cases against US technology giants such as Meta and Google, often spurring action from regulators over violations of the GDPR.
