LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A local technology company from New Albany, Indiana has found a new home on the Kentucky side of the river.
The AI company was founded five years ago by a Louisville man living in New Albany with the goal of increasing efficiency for medium to large businesses.
Company leaders joined Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg to cut the ribbon on the company's new headquarters on River Road on Monday afternoon.
The ceremony is just one small step in a $5.1 million investment that is also expected to create approximately 200 jobs.
Vsimple is designed to help businesses in industries here in Kentucky and Southern Indiana, including manufacturing and distribution.
The company's CEO and founder said he feels this could be an example of how AI can benefit the region.
“For software businesses, the Coast is where most companies are built,” said Vsimple CEO Buddy Bockweg. “They don't know of any company that makes something, builds something, services something. They understand technology. Well, we understand the business that we serve. So it's great that they have a physical home to live in.”
Bockweg also said he expects more AI and technology companies to come to Louisville and Kentucky as these services continue to impact industries already based in the commonwealth.
WAVE had the opportunity to ask Governor Beshear about his concerns surrounding AI-driven data centers.
He said the industry is much bigger than just manufacturing and centers that connect end users and services, and he sees it as an opportunity for better-paying jobs across the state.
