The highlight of this release is the new “Please ask ai“E-Book Audience Tab. Users can highlight any text, ask questions about AI models, and receive explanations, contexts, or summaries on the fly. This feature supports hundreds of providers, including Google, OpenRouter, GitHub, Local models via Ollama.
Caliber 8.11.1 is also included Fixes some bugs and ease of use improvements. E-book viewers now handle highlights correctly, prevent overlapping highlights, and ensure footnote pop-ups get closer. Esc Keys and appropriate positioning handles when modifying existing highlights. Very large e-books on Windows also show links reliably.
An additional fix addresses PDB input errors using slightly incorrect headers when adding the first icon rule to the tag browser and resolves the issue.
The Settings tooltip displays keyboard shortcuts for each category, Windows builds update DLL signatures, and news sources have been updated, including the New York Times, Economist, Eldipro, and New York Review books.
