The aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has delisted the entire Air India flight crew. On this flight, the captain invited a female friend into the cockpit, violating safety standards.

The incident occurred on Air India flight AI 915 Delhi-Dubai on 27 February. This violation was reported exclusively by HT. “All flight crew members on the flight have been de-rostered pending an investigation by the DGCA,” people with knowledge of the matter told HT. Captain Suri was also issued a charge sheet by airline management,” they added.

A source close to the investigation told HT that regulators have summoned all flight crew members for questioning.

“Both the pilot and the flight attendants, including economy class passengers, were summoned by the DGCA and their statements were recorded,” an official said. However, Air India has allowed the flight’s crew to continue operating.

According to the complaint, the Special Incident Report read: to business class. I knew the load, so I told the captain that the load was full. On business she has 16 guests and 2 seats are on her MEL (minimum equipment list).

According to the DGCA’s Civil Aviation Regulations, no staff or person is allowed into the cockpit without conducting a mandatory Breathalyzer (BA) test.
