A photo of popular lyricist Javed Akhtar wearing a skullcap recently went viral. The image was accompanied by a claim that Javed Akhtar had become religious. The lyricist is furious after the fake images surfaced and is threatening legal action over the claims.
After Kangana Ranaut, Javed Akhtar falls victim to AI.
Javed Akhtar lashed out on his official X account (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, writing, “A fake video is circulating on social media showing a computer-generated image of me wearing a skullcap and falsely claiming that I have finally turned to God. This is utter nonsense and a lie.”
See below.
There's a fake video going around that shows a fake computer-generated photo of me with a topic on top of my head, ultimately showing me turning to God. That's garbage. I'm seriously considering reporting this to the cyber police and finally bring this person responsible…

Javed Akhtar further wrote, “I am taking this matter very seriously and am seriously considering filing a complaint with the cyber police regarding this fake news. I will also take legal action and take it to court against those responsible for creating and disseminating this false video and those who abetted it for tarnishing my image, reputation and credibility.”
Javed Akhtar's claim for a religious portrait and its skull was made after he lost a dispute with Shamir Nadvi over the existence of God. Akhtar opposed the existence of God and scholar Mufti Shamir Nadvi opposed the existence of God. A long discussion ensued, after which the scholar Nadvi defeated Akhtar with his own arguments.
