Adobe has announced new Firefly tools for Illustrator and Photoshop that will help users create and edit in more imaginative ways. The American software company revealed that Illustrator and Photoshop will include several AI-powered tools and workflow enhancements to speed up tasks.
One notable feature is Generative Shape Fill (Beta), which allows users to add complex vector details to shapes by entering text-based prompts within the contextual taskbar; the Dimensions tool allows users to quickly and accurately size their projects; and Mockups (Beta) allows users to visually prototype their artwork on everyday objects. Other Illustrator tools include Style Reference, Text to Pattern (Beta), Retype, and the Extended Selection tool.

Photoshop also introduces AI-driven upgrades like the Selection Brush tool, which streamlines selection, compositing, and applying filters; the Adjustment Brush tool lets you make non-destructive adjustments to specific image areas; Marquee Selection improves the precision of object selection; and enhanced pan and zoom in Illustrator makes navigating complex documents smoother. There are also improvements to image generation, the contextual taskbar, and the Type tool.
Some of these new tools are currently available in the Beta versions of Illustrator and Photoshop, while others are broadly available in both applications: the Selection Brush tool, Adjustment Brush tool, and Image Generation tools are available in both the desktop and web app of Photoshop.
As Adobe continues to expand its software with AI-powered digital content creation tools, it has reaffirmed its commitment to creator-friendly AI. This pledge ensures that creators' rights are respected and that customer content is never used for training purposes.
