Adobe Firefly adds Ray3 video model for Luma AI

AI Video & Visuals

Luma AI's latest video model, Ray3, is now available only in the Firefly app, allowing you to generate videos and explore the creative concepts of Firefly boards.

Firefly followed last month's launch of Google's Gemini 2.5 Flash Image (also known as Nano Banana).Adobe said Firefly customers have early access to Luma AI's latest RAY3 model ahead of the broader public release.

For the next two weeks, Ray3 will only be available on the Firefly app and Luma AI's Dream Machine platform. This is interesting. This is because Ray3, as before, represents progress over previous generation AI models.

HDR ability

With Ray3, you can generate high-quality 10-second clips of movies, and is one of the first video AI models to support native HDR, offering richer contrast, deeper shadows and brighter highlights in professional grade formats. It is also built on a new multimodal reasoning system in which Luma can better understand the user's creative intent, plan consistent scenes, maintain character consistency, and generate movements that feel natural.

So that means you could use Ray3 in Firefly text for your video to quickly generate Broll or background footage that complements “fill the gaps in your product tutorial video, add narrative depth to your Instagram reels, or build a dynamic migration of Tiktok.”

Filmmakers' focus is different

The distinction created in Adobe's blog post announcing the new integration is interesting and sparks Netflix's latest guidelines on AI use. Therefore, the filmmaker's emphasis is on previz.

“If you're a filmmaker, producer, or visual storyteller, you can proceed with shooting before using Ray3 on your Firefly board to explore different visual orientations. You can generate environments, generate storyboards and camera perspectives, and plan scenes.

However, like all partner models integrated into Firefly apps, nothing generated in Adobe apps is used to train the generated AI models. All Firefly AI-generated content also includes content credentials, so you always know which AI was used to create it, and it helps you to be transparent at every stage of the creative process.

Ray3 will be participating in Openai, Ideogram, Pika, Black Forest Labs and runway. All of these are available within Firefly. Future integrations between Moonvalley and Topaz Labs will be coming soon.
