Arlo Technologies has announced the addition of event captions and video search capabilities for subscribers to Arlo Secure 6 Home Security Service.
The latest update expands Arlo Secure's capabilities by incorporating artificial intelligence-driven extensions, allowing users to access and interpret security camera footage more efficiently. Event captioning is already available and video search will soon be introduced.
Event Caption
The event caption tool utilizes AI to provide a brief description of motion trigger events detected by the ARLO camera. This means users can quickly identify people, such as those approaching the entrance or nearing a parcel drop-off, without having to watch the entire video recording. Descriptions are automatically generated and provide an overview of each event, saving time and effort to save users' time and effort.
Describing the focus of this feature, the company said, “Arlo's new event captioning feature generates a concise and accurate description of motion-detected events. Whether you're walking in the driveway or being delivered, users can quickly understand the footage of the camera without having to view the video itself.”
Video search function
Future video search features allow users to find specific events or footage by specifying keywords, text descriptions, or time ranges. This eliminates the need to manually scroll through the extensive video library to find relevant moments. Importantly, the video search system supports the use of natural language, allowing users to enter a description of the incident they want to review, such as “someone delivered the package this morning”, and to enter the relevant clip surface instantly.

Subscription details
Starting September 2024, if a subscription is purchased, it is now available to both new and existing users via the Arlo Secure app. The video search feature will be available in the coming months. Consumers who purchase certain Arlo products will be eligible for a 30-day Arlo Secure Plus trial that includes access to both event captions and video searches. After the trial period, continuous use of these premium features requires a paid Secure Plus Tier subscription, which also includes expanded cloud storage, advanced detection options, and activity zones.
