AI-produced music differentiates live performance
In 2025, the rise of AI is forcing the music industry to grapple with how it defines art.
Oregon ranks among the top 10 states in the U.S. with the highest AI usage, according to a study that monitors the use of artificial intelligence tools across the country.
Anthropic, an AI research firm and creator of the “Claude” tool, conducted an economic indicators study that analyzed how each state is using AI, specifically its interaction with its own Claude model.
The company released its 4th economic indicators report on January 15th. Antropic said each report aims to better understand the impact of AI on labor markets and the global economy by tracking Claude’s economic impact over time.
Each state’s ranking is determined by Anthropic’s AI index. This index looks at how much Claude is used in each state compared to expected usage based on the state’s population.
A new study found that Oregon residents use AI more than the national average, and Oregon is one of the top 10 states in AI usage.

Oregon State was ranked No. 1. Anthropic’s State of the State on AI Usage 9 shows that Oregonians use artificial intelligence tools more than the national average for tasks such as arts, design, entertainment, sports, and media.
The following eight states and Washington, DC were ranked highly.
- vermont state
- virginia
- washington
- colorado
- California
- Massachusetts
- new york
- Washington DC
How are Oregonians using AI?
Oregonians most frequently used AI tools to assist with purchasing decisions, such as researching and comparing products before making a purchase decision. According to the study, AI was most often used to assist with the creation of academic assignments and teaching materials.
Oregon stood out among other states in using AI more than any other state for home maintenance, repairs, construction, vehicle troubleshooting and medical inquiries.
Additionally, AI usage in Oregon has been shown to reflect the health-conscious and active lifestyles of Oregonians, with user data showing higher than average searches for fitness and nutrition guidance.
