Boston, November 26, 2025–(BUSINESS WIRE)–a2z Radiology AI has received U.S. FDA clearance for a2z-Unified-Triage, a single device that simultaneously flags and prioritizes seven urgent findings on CT scans of the abdomen and pelvis.
With radiology’s largest annual conference, RSNA 2025, just days away, a2z is establishing itself as a leader in abdominal and pelvic AI. The company is introducing a first-of-its-kind feature to the U.S. market: a single system that triages seven emergency conditions in one pass with CT of the abdomen and pelvis.
Abdominopelvic CT is the most commonly examined CT category in the United States, with more than 20 million examinations performed annually. As the number of cases increases, a2z-Unified-Triage ensures rapid treatment of critically ill patients by flagging suspected emergencies and moving them to the top of the worklist within minutes.
“We aimed to build a generalist system that can scale to a variety of situations,” said Dr. Pranav Rajpurkar, co-founder of a2z Radiology AI and associate professor at Harvard Medical School. “We start with acute illnesses with significant consequences, cases where rapid triage can have the greatest immediate impact on patient care.”
a2z-Unified-Triage covers seven major acute diseases in one integration: small bowel obstruction, acute cholecystitis, acute pancreatitis, acute diverticulitis, hydronephrosis, free air, and unruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm.
“With five of these seven conditions, we are bringing AI triage to the U.S. market for the first time. And we are not stopping at seven conditions; we still have many expansions ahead,” said co-founder and CEO Samir Rajpurkar.
