A video of AI monitoring employee productivity goes viral.Netizens say, “Start practicing acting.”

As the world becomes a little more dependent on artificial intelligence (AI) every day, a viral video on Reddit shows new and unique ways the technology is being applied.

In a viral video, AI is seen monitoring workers to check their productivity during working hours. The employee's countdown in the video started immediately after she left her seat.

According to the video, the company may deduct paychecks for employees' “time spent away from their desks.”

Netizens criticized the new AI application, claiming that workplaces equipped with such systems would be “worst” workplaces.

“Human bots in a sweatshop being monitored by computer bots, no place should be in a place where you get treated like this. This is nothing to brag about,” one Reddit user said.

“We should start practicing acting because the best actors and actresses seem to keep working,” another added.

“Sometimes I'm just staring at my computer, but it looks like I'm working,” one user said, quoting Peter Gibbons, the main character from the movie “Office Space.”

Another user felt that equating sitting in a chair with productivity is the worst way to judge work done.

“Yes, sitting in a chair makes you more productive…stupid sentiment. In jobs that require people to think, plan, and consider (which is probably 80% of computer jobs), “We often need to move our thoughts by moving. Working on a problem in your head doesn't mean you have to work on it at your desk,” the user said.

One Reddit user shared a similar experience, saying he quickly quit a company that tried to use a “key logger” to monitor him.

“I once worked for a company that tried to put a keylogger in to see if I was working. I quit right away. It was because I didn't want to get caught 'lazy' Not because I don't want to work, but because I don't want to work. “It's tough to work for a company that thinks keystrokes equate to increased productivity,” he commented.

“A lot of my time is spent reading, meeting on Zoom, or waiting to build something or do some other time-consuming action, and I’m not using my keyboard during that time. If I don’t trust you, how can I trust you?” he added.
