According to data from InfoEdge's Naukri JobSpeak index, India's white collar worker witnessed a strong employment trend in December 2024.

In December 2024, employment activities saw growth of 9% each through industries such as AI-ML (36%), oil and gas (13%), FMCG (12%), and healthcare (12%).

Dr Pawan Goyal, CEO of Naukri, said, “The Indian job market is driven by AI/ML growth and creative fields, and is thriving in 2025. Traditional sectors like FMCG combine fresh talent with strategic experts.”

In the advertising/PR/event industry, employment fell by 4% in December 2024. Additionally, the media and entertainment industry also saw a 6% drop in job activities.

According to a report by Naukri, “creative, lifestyle and retail sectors such as design, beauty, health, and consumer durables” were born as fresh people who hire hotspots with recruitment indexes of 39%, 26% and 19% respectively.

Additionally, the FMCG sector achieved 18% growth in fresh employment in December 2024, indicating a monthly increase in fresh recruitment sector throughout the year.

Compared to December 2023, a 6% increase was seen in employment opportunities for professionals with 0-3 years of experience.

Hiring professionals with over 16 years of experience also increased by 23% in December 2024.

“Employment in Tier-2 cities”

Coimbatore has emerged as a standout standout, spurring a 14% increase in new employment and surged by the 52% increase in MNCS.

Moreover, Chennai (35%) and Bengaluru (21%) maintained their employment activities. Hyderabad also recorded 15% growth in fresh employers adopted across sectors such as IT, consumer durables and real estate.
