JAKARTA – An old video of Steve Jobs speaking at the 1983 International Design Conference about how technology will change the way we do things was recently released on the Steve Jobs archive website.
The site features a 28-year-old video recording of Steve Jobs at the “The Objects of Our Life” exhibition in Aspen.
In the 55-minute video, Jobs predicts that PC sales surpassed car sales in 1986 and that within the next decade people will be spending more time on their PCs than on their cars.
“People are going to spend more time interacting with these machines than they are interacting with other people,” Jobs said during his presentation.
He challenged the designers in attendance to start thinking about the design of future technological products, something that would have been thought impossible in the 89s.
“One of the reasons I'm here is because I need your help. It doesn't matter if your computer is in bad shape or not,” he continued.
Additionally, one of the video clips seen by Macworld explains what initial tasks artificial intelligence (AI) can specifically perform.
“The human mind is very good at doing complex things, and many people are now starting to think of the brain as an architectural model for building computers,” he said.
He says that when you have a million people using something, creativity starts to spring up.
