WhatsApp will soon be able to use Meta AI to edit photos sent by others: here's how it works

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new update for its AI chatbot Meta AI to enhance its photo interaction features. The update will enable the Meta AI chatbot to reply to photos sent by users and edit them as prompted.

Meta AI, which is part of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, currently offers better text features like replying to questions, suggesting captions, and having conversations with users.

WABetaInfo has spotted a new photo editing feature by Meat AI in WhatsApp beta version 2.24.14.20 for Android, which is likely to be available in the stable version soon. The messaging app is looking at adding a camera button to its Meta AI chatbot, similar to the camera button in regular chats, allowing users to share photos with the AI ​​chatbot.

The new feature allows users to ask the AI ​​to identify objects and places, provide context for the content of a photo, and also gives users the option to edit the photo via text prompts.

However, it remains to be seen how much image editing Meta AI will be able to do on WhatsApp. Compared to existing AI-powered image editing tools, Meta AI may be able to remove selected objects, remove and replace backgrounds, and adjust the appearance of images.

According to the screenshots, the uploaded images are analyzed by AI and users can delete the photos at any time.

Previous reports had suggested that WhatsApp was working on a new “Imagine Me” feature that would enable Meta AI to create an AI avatar, and the feature was spotted being tested on Android beta version 2.24.14.13.

According to reports, WhatsApp will first ask users to take a selfie, which Meta AI will then read and analyze to create an AI avatar with the right level of accuracy and realism. Users will also have full control over the feature and can remove the setup photo at any time from Meta AI settings.
