(Reuters) – Hewlett Packard Enterprise Chief Executive Antonio Neri on Tuesday pitched new hardware, software and service lines for companies interested in adopting various forms of artificial intelligence at the company's conference in Las Vegas.
Since the release of OpenAI's ChatGPT in 2022, companies of all sizes have been working to develop and implement AI in order to further utilize the vast amounts of accumulated data.
But Neri said the chips, hardware and software needed to build and run the necessary AI applications are often complex and risky.
“These customers want simplicity,” he said.
HPE believes there are “dozens” of companies building advanced AI models and more than 100 governments that could be interested in building supercomputers and cloud computing infrastructure. But there's a big opportunity to sell advanced AI hardware to large corporate groups that aren't focused on pushing the boundaries of the technology.
“There are hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, of companies,” Neri told Reuters in an interview ahead of the meeting.
Currently, HPE's AI business in this segment accounts for roughly 15% of its AI revenue, with most of the rest going to large cloud computing companies such as Amazon.com and Microsoft.
HPE said it will offer servers equipped with NVIDIA's advanced graphics processing units used for AI calculations, along with a host of other hardware and software developed by the company. The new family of server and services products is expected to be available in the fall, the company said.
In addition to the hardware and software, HPE said it will also provide consulting services, including help with managing and maintaining the systems.
“Today's announcement is about our customer segment and is aimed at accelerating the adoption of AI and fueling this industrial revolution,” Neri said.
