PwC Malta hosted its second Tech Week, consisting of a series of technology-related events aimed at highlighting the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the crucial role of trust in a rapidly evolving environment.
This year's Tech Week kicked off with the Intelligent Digital Conference at the Hilton on May 10, bringing together executives and industry leaders to explore the profound impact AI will have on the future of industries and organizations.
The conference featured distinguished speakers and panellists including leading local business leaders, technology alliance partners and experts from PwC's local offices and EMEA network.
In her introductory speech, Michelle Ganado, Digital Services Leader at PwC Malta, emphasised the importance of understanding the transformative power of AI in business.
“As AI continues to grow exponentially, business organizations are becoming increasingly reliant on data analytics and large data warehousing to make more timely and informed decisions. The move to cloud technology is also further accelerating this transition. In today's digital age, data has truly become the new gold. This conference and other events taking place over the next few days as part of Tech Week 2024 bring to the fore our continued investments in digital,” he said.
The PwC Digital Services mini-expo at the Intelligent Digital Conference also featured booths showcasing a range of solutions relating to digital strategy and transformation, business solutions, cyber security and privacy, IT managed services and networking, as well as introducing a new area dealing with the creation of custom digital assets aimed at addressing specific niches.
The exhibition also featured solutions from PwC Malta's technology collaboration partners, including Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Acronis, and also had a dedicated space for the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST), which brought its semi-humanoid robot, Reachy.
Tech Week continued with a collaborative event with the Malta Chamber of Commerce: “The Way Forward: Trust in the Digital Age”. The event featured two short presentations followed by a panel discussion on the importance of operational resilience in the local market. The discussion covered aspects relevant to both regulated and non-regulated Maltese businesses, highlighting how organizations can derive long-term sustainable value by increasing operational resilience.
Additionally, PwC Malta will be hosting a LinkedIn Live session on 15 May to further the discussion on AI and trust, digging deeper into strategies for succeeding in an era of continuous technological innovation.
The session included a brief overview of the topics discussed at the Intelligent Digital Conference and key takeaways from the panel discussion and can still be viewed on the company's LinkedIn and YouTube channels. Tech Week concluded on May 16 with the company's alumni-only event.
Andrew Schembri, digital services partner at PwC, said: “Continued advances in artificial intelligence are revolutionising the business world, which is why we think it's important to consistently shine a light on this subject, whilst providing organisations with the support they need to maximise the benefits of AI – all whilst keeping their businesses, employees and customers safe.”
“We hope this Tech Week has provided the business community with the right insights to anticipate and evaluate how they can use AI technologies as a driver of their strategy and transformation.”
