Google announced at its I/O developer conference that it is expanding AI Overview in Google Search to all users in the United States.
Google's all-new AI Overview combines the power of generative AI with traditional web search to deliver faster, more insightful search results. Users outside the US may have to wait a little while to access AI Overview or get early access via Google Labs. Google Labs is an AI feature collaborator that provides early access to select features.
Google's AI Overview leverages Gemini AI's multi-step inference, planning, and multimodality capabilities. In the coming days, users will be able to request and adjust their summaries to be “simplified” or “segmented.” In the coming days, users will be able to record videos and use them as search input in Google Lens.
How do I enable AI Overview on Google?
To enable AI Overview in your Google Account, visit labs.google.com/search.
Please make sure that you are logging in using your primary email ID. Once enabled, the AI Overview feature will be available on Google Search and all devices associated with that particular email ID.
Once enabled, when you search for something on Google, the new feature will appear at the top. Works with some web browsers, Google apps, and Chrome desktop. Note that disabling this will not disable non-Google Labs AI Overview.
The AI Overview content includes quick takeaways with links to articles and videos from around the web. According to Google, “Generation AI is experimental. Quality and availability may vary.” The company also plans to update these experiences, including human reviews, to improve results and product quality. It also states that there is the potential to take advantage of people's interactions with.
