Google is scheduled to hold its annual Google I/O 2024 tomorrow, May 14th. The Sundar Pichai-led company is expected to announce Android 15, Google Pixel Fold 2, Gemini AI, Wear OS 5, and Google TV at the event. The event will start at 10:30 PM IST and will be live-streamed on the company's YouTube channel and social media handles.
Google I/O 2024: What to expect
Android 15
The Google I/O 2024 event is primarily about software updates. Google may show off a sneak peek at Android 15 features that will eventually roll out in the coming months at an upcoming event. Notably, Android 15 is currently available in beta and includes new features to enhance productivity, privacy, and security. It will come with features such as satellite connectivity, audio sharing, notification cooldowns, end-to-end encryption of contact keys, app archiving, and partial screen sharing.
Gemini AI
Google may announce the integration of Gemini AI capabilities into some of its products, including Google Maps, Chrome, Workspace, and Gmail. In addition to this, Google is also expected to announce a new Pixel-specific virtual assistant called Pixie. It is expected that this assistant will not be limited to text or voice input, but will also share images, similar to meta AI.
Google Wear OS 5
Google is expected to roll out a new update for WearOS 15. The company has been pretty tight-lipped about this update, but it's expected to feature a new Watch Face format.
Google hardware launch
Google may reveal details about the Pixel Fold 2 at an event. Note that his Pixel Fold, which debuted last year, is not available in India. Notably, the company recently launched the Pixel 8A in India at a starting price of Rs 52,999.
