YouTube's new AI feature lets users skip to the best part of a video

YouTube is reportedly using AI to allow some premium subscribers to jump ahead to the most viewed or best parts of a video.

According to 9TO5Google, when a viewer double-taps to skip ahead, instead of the usual 10 seconds of skipping ahead, a pill-shaped “Jump Forward” button will appear in the bottom right corner for a few seconds, then disappear. .

When you tap the button, a page of text will be overlaid that says “Jump to commonly skipped sections” as YouTube uses AI and viewing data to figure out the next best part of the video.

In fact, YouTube is currently testing a series of new experimental features for premium members, according to an experiment page seen by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.

The page says there are no experiments available at this time, but YouTube allows viewers to sign up for experiments and receive gift cards based on their time.

“If the study fits well with your profile, you will receive a follow-up survey and more information about the study, including next steps and location,” the page says.

While YouTube is beefing up its premium service, it's also cracking down on third-party apps that violate its terms of service, especially ad-blocking apps.

YouTube said in a statement that viewers using these third-party apps may experience “buffering issues” when trying to watch videos, or “The following content is not available in this app.” He said that an error message may be displayed.

He said he wanted to stress that the terms do not allow third-party apps to hide ads. This prevents creators from receiving compensation from viewers.
