Located 130 miles from Astoria, New York, Mattituck is a quiet summer enclave that attracts Greek-Americans looking for a taste of home. While the town hibernates from late fall to spring, the heart beats in churches, schools, and the local library, and community events take place.
On Sunday, April 21, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, an extraordinary cultural event unfolded at Mattituck's Greek Orthodox Church of the Transfiguration, located at 1950 Breakwater Road. Renowned international scholars and experts gathered to analyze the essence of Ambassador Dionysios Calambrezos' book on artificial intelligence (AI), “Virtual Nightmare.” Notable speakers included Dr. Nicholas Alexiou, Dr. George C. Giacos, Dr. Alexandros Grykos, Ambassador Calambrezos, and others. The event was moderated by Marika Andreola-Paleos and Nick Paleos, President of the Greek American Association of Taxpayers and Citizens (HATCAST).
A reception followed, generously sponsored by the Rev. Andrew Cadieux, Parish Council President Anna Frossos, and the Greek American Taxpayers and Citizens Association of Southold County (HATCAST). Together, Transfiguration Church and his HATCAST made history by bringing together top international experts to Mattituck. Mattituck Park District Commissioner Chris Shaskin attended on behalf of the local town.
Ambassador Dionysios Calambrezos provided insights on the European Union, the United Nations, and the Greek government. The Zakynthos native has a law degree and is Greece's Permanent Representative to the United Nations. Combining his diplomatic career with literature, he has written numerous books, articles, and papers.

As the plot thickens, government officials, researchers, activists, and a mysterious woman become entangled in a story that unfolds in both the real and virtual worlds.
Scholars have shed light on the fundamental importance of AI, its operational dynamics, and the risks of technological usurpation in business. As AI permeates the workplace, proper employee training will become essential. It is essential to have policies in place to protect customer relationships and confidential information.
Businesses are leveraging AI for marketing, customer communication, and problem-solving. Its ubiquity requires universal adoption, making AI advisors essential. AI has transformative potential, but it also poses challenges such as the spread of fake content and cybersecurity risks. However, its effectiveness in problem solving, cost reduction, and data interpretation cannot be denied.
The event was organized in cooperation with various organizations, including the World Cephalonian-Ithacian Social Federation “Odysseus”, the Greek American National Council, and AHI. Sponsored by prominent institutions such as the Center for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at Queen's College, State University of New York, this event marked the coming together of historic minds in the transformation of the Christian Greek Orthodox Church in Mattituck, Long Island.
