Building a trusted AI ecosystem
Iswaran said that in addition to expanding the local AI talent pool, the Singapore government is also working to build a reliable AI ecosystem.
He elaborated further on the Advisory Committee on the Ethical Use of AI and Data, which was first unveiled in June of this year.
It is led by former Attorney General VK Raja and comprises 10 industry leaders.

The minister said the advisory committee would “gather a wide range of views” from businesses, industry groups, chambers of commerce and consumers.
“I look forward to the advisory committee’s recommendations on how organizations can develop and deploy AI solutions in a responsible and trustworthy manner,” Iswaran said.
These efforts come on the heels of AI being recognized as one of the four technologies transforming the local information communication media (ICM) sector.
Then-Minister of Communications and Information Yacoub Ibrahim said last November that AI is not some fancy or obscure technology, but something that already exists in our daily lives.
Companies large and small can leverage existing AI solutions to improve their business services, he added.
In the public sector, AI efforts are already accelerating.
The Digital Government Blueprint, announced in June this year, includes the use of AI in service delivery and policy making by all ministries and agencies as one of its key performance indicators over the next five years.
