Time is running out to apply for the Mark Cuban Foundation Artificial Intelligence (AI) Bootcamp hosted by The University of Texas at Dallas. The bootcamp is aimed at underserved high school students and offers them an opportunity to learn the basics of AI.
The bootcamp will take place over four consecutive Saturdays, from October 14th to November 4th. Participants are required to attend all four sessions and no prior experience in computer science, programming, or robotics is necessary.
During the bootcamp, students will delve into the world of artificial intelligence, exploring ethical implications and real-life applications such as TikTok recommendations, smart home assistants, facial recognition, and self-driving cars. They will also learn about Large Language Models like ChatGPT, which can generate computer code, answer questions, and create original stories.
The bootcamp will be led by trained volunteer corporate mentors who possess expertise in AI, machine learning, and data science. Students will have the opportunity to work with open-source tools and develop their own AI applications related to computer vision, machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI.
The Mark Cuban Foundation provides the bootcamp’s curriculum materials, trains corporate volunteer mentors, and facilitates the application process. The foundation also collaborates with The University of Texas at Dallas to offer food, transportation information, and laptops to students at no cost.
The AI bootcamp initiative, founded by Mark Cuban in 2019, has successfully held bootcamps in various cities across the United States, including Dallas, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Atlantic City. So far, over 900 students have been positively impacted, and the foundation aims to increase that number annually.
